Understand the Open Scoreboard building blocks.

Purpose

Open Scoreboard separates scorekeeping, display graphics, reusable event data, and competition management so each event can be assembled from the pieces you need.

How to create it

  1. 1Create a broadcast for every physical stream station and add courts to it.
  2. 2Create rosters when player or team names, flags, images, ratings, or jersey colors should be reusable.
  3. 3Create scoreboards or dynamic bracket/group displays for TVs, streams, and public links.
  4. 4Use competitions or scheduling when matches should be pushed to tables in order.

Use it for

  • Small events with one table and one scoreboard.
  • Large events where organizers schedule matches and tables only score assigned matches.
  • Broadcasts where graphics need stable URLs and polished overlays.

Notes

  • Broadcasts are for daily operation. Rosters hold reusable player and team data. Scoreboards are for display. Competitions are for event structure.
  • Use the smallest structure that solves the event before adding competitions or scheduling.
